Home Owner Justice (Last Week)

Frightened householders who over-react when confronted by burglars will get more protection under Government plans, the new Justice Secretary will say today.
Chris Grayling plans to change the law to ensure even householders who use force in a way that may seem disproportionate in the cold light of day will be protected from prosecution.
It comes after Britain's most senior judge reinforced the notion that a person's home is their castle, saying furious householders have the right to get rid of burglars in their homes and are not expected to remain calm when confronted by intruders.
In his first Tory Party conference speech as Justice Secretary, Mr Grayling will also reinforce his tough-justice approach by saying all community sentences should have a punitive element.
"Being confronted by an intruder in your own home is terrifying, and the public should be in no doubt that the law is on their side," he will say.
"That is why I am strengthening the current law.
"Householders who act instinctively and honestly in self defence are victims of crime and should be treated that way.
"We need to dispel doubts in this area once and for all, and I am very pleased to be today delivering on the pledge that we made in Opposition."
Force which is "grossly disproportionate" will still be against the law, but this is a higher bar than the current law which says force must always be proportionate.
But primary legislation will be needed before the changes can come into force and no specific parliamentary time for this has yet been set.
The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge, said last month that burglary was an offence against the person, should always be treated seriously, and stressed that householders have the right to use force "to get rid of the burglar".
Community sentences will also be toughened up to ensure that every one of the orders

The foregoing has to be a step in the right direction. One question

always asked of me is how do I stand in law with using a dog to

defend myself "K9Protector The Sword At Your Side"

K9 PROTECTOR OXANA

Oxana is one of our "Elite Family Protection Dogs". She is two years old. Very balanced Oxana is wonderful in the home, house trained and exceptionally gentle around children. Her confirmation and breeding is nothing short of excellent. She is line bred to one of the most formidable working dogs of southern Germany. She is alert and quick to defend should she be required. Her obedience is excellent on and off lead and her protection work is devastating to a would be assailant hitting high and hard without adjustment. Oxana will suit any family home that requires peace of mind only such a high calibre guardian can bring. K9 Protector......."The Sword At Your Side"

Dangerous Dogs ? Don't Panic

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has announced the start of a consultation, seeking views on a proposed package of measures aimed at tackling irresponsible ownership of dogs. Defra’s main proposals are: ● Extending the criminal offence of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control to private property (where the dog has a right to be) – without penalising the owners of animals that defend them against trespassers. ● Consulting on whether to micro-chip all dogs to help tackle the problem of irresponsible owners and ease the overwhelming number of strays that are put down as the owner cannot be identified. ● Giving the police more discretion to take common sense decisions by ending an anomaly requiring dogs be seized and kennelled, while a decision is taken on whether to exempt the dog from being destroyed under the Dangerous Dogs Act. ● Issuing new guidance to help the courts deal more effectively with seized dogs. There are also sums provided for projects promoting more responsible dog ownership and for the training of dog legislation officers in police forces. The above measures are designed to target specific members of society that have brought about an increase in dog "attacks" the measures will protect those who have acted lawfully in defence of themselves or loved ones.

A Typical Day ?????

Okay so lets assume that there are no customers with us I often get asked "whats a typical day like for one of your dogs ?". The simple answer is there isn't one. They are usually up and out by 6.15 am for a social walk and back by 7.00 am. They then rest up until 8.15 where they have a small breakfast. Training with Len and Bob and I will start around 10.30 am. This training is always reality based and as varied as we can make it. So that the dogs "perform" whenever asked in whatever the environment. Training is usually concluded by 2pm with obedience walks in real world area's (town parks, High streets, outside of school gates to round off the day. A well trained protection dog should add to your life and not detract from it K9 Protector.........."The sword at your side"

Patter Of Tiny Feet

This rather handsome chap is due to become a father very soon. Blue was sold to one of London's top French chef's. However before he left us Blue and Dora our Fado von der lutter grandaughter had a succesfull mating. This litter will produce some fabulous pups, not just because the heritage is world class but because both mother and father are amazing dogs. It's a massive treat for us to be expecting pups so we thought we would pass on some of the fun. Guess the number of pups that Dora will have correctly and you will be entered into a draw. On the 30th April 2012 we will draw a winner from all the entrants. This winner will be invited to spend a day with us at our base in Wiltshire. The winner will experience first hand what it's like to handle a personal protection dog and oversee our training. Included in the day will be a lunch at the Toll Gate Inn in Holt, Wiltshire. So don't delay enter your guess as a comment on this blog together with a contact email should you be the lucky winner, best of luck........K9 Protector "The sword at your side"

Shady Tails !!!!

Sadly I have again been contacted this week by someone who has gone through a horrendous time when having purchased a "protection dog" from a less than reputable individual. The young family concerned have a specific threat in their life that they felt they needed a dog for. They thumbed through google , found what appeared to be a established company, made contact and the "representative" offered to bring dogs to them. To cut a long tail (pardon the pun) short the dog they purchased turned out to be everything they were told he wasn't. It frequently fouled in the house, chewed furniture, dominated the lady of the house , growled at the children and needless to say the dog has been removed from that situation. I can't name the individual on this blog but my advice will always be this, satisfy yourself that the company you are dealing with has good heritage, has the experience in supplying good quality dogs, has a sound customer base that they are proud of and happy to refer to. Ultimatley this will be a purchase made on trust and shouldn't be just about an individual making a "sale".

Using A Protection Dog To Defend Yourself

In the UK there is no dedicated legislation that specifically covers an individual to use a personal protection dog to protect themselves. Let us be clear if we have used our trusted friend to defend ourselves, home or family then it is our responsibility to make sure that we are aware of why we have a right to defend our self and in what circumstance. We all see the widely reported incidents of well meaning "have a go heroe's" or courageous homeowners being "hauled over the coals" because of their actions. So let us be clear the law does give us the right to defend our self in certain cirumstance at K9 Protector no personal protection dog is handed over without a full legal input on where you stand in law....................."K9 Protector The sword at your side"

Home Security

In reading the papers or watching the news it is clear that violent crime and home invasion is on the increase. I spoke to a potential customer the other day who waited for thirty minutes for his local police to arrive after dialing 999. He had woke in the night after hearing a noise. The noise had been caused by two hooded males that were attempting to break into his music studio that is attached to his home. His story is all too familiar police resources are stretched to breaking point, so much so that acceptable response times are deemed to be 20 minutes urban and 30 minutes rural. It is safe to say that this situation won't improve anytime soon. Home security is something that we should all consider and having plans in place for any eventuality is a good thing. Our customers all speak of a peace of mind they haven't experienced before. So it is of no doubt that if you have concerns regarding your personal or home security K9 Protector can help you.
